My Father used to catch the ropes when the Waverley came into Helensburgh many years ago. She was his pride and joy. We as a family would be devastated if she never called into Helensburgh again.

The Pier IS Helensburgh. Abandon it and the council lose all credibility.

The pier is a vital access point for tourists to Helensburgh and the local area and a safe pier would provide a great opportunity for visiting cruise passengers at Port Glasgow to cross the Clyde and use the local retail and entertainment facilities.

My father, who served as chief steward on Clyde steamers inc 1st Waverley, will be turning in his grave at the thought of no boats calling at our beautiful town, especially the waverley. Shame on those responsible.

It’s a dreadful loss if The Waverley can no longer come to Helensburgh Pier.

The Waverley docking at Helensburgh Pier has a wonderful history and brings visitors to Helensburgh and the surrounding area. An essential icon for Helensburgh.

Shameful that this beautiful old lady can no longer berth in Helensburgh. Get our pier fixed!

It is so sad to think this has ended for the time being. The towns economy will suffer because of this. The people who use the summer sailing from Helensburgh would spend in the town and encourage their friends to visit. Sad about this loss.

Failure by the local and Scottish Government authorities to effect repairs to the pier before it fell into such a dilapidated state that it can no longer provide a suitable platform for the Waverley to operate safely. Rectify the damage before it’s to late.
