Bring the Waverley back to Helensburgh - Restore our pier!

We should be proud of our heritage and keep the pier for all to enjoy.

Helensburgh’s pier has always been at the heart of the community please don’t break that heart by allowing the pier to just rot away.

Save the pier

It makes no sense at all, financially or aesthetically, to allow the pier to deteriorate to the point where it cannot be used. Most coastal towns would jump at the chance to have such an asset, particularly if there was the opportunity we have to benefit from the cruise ships on the Clyde.

I remember fishing there when I was a teenager, great old pier should be saved for future generations.

Money is being spent upgrading Helensburgh if this is not sorted it will reduce how many visitors comes.

Quite simply for everyone concerned, it is just the right thing to do!

Do hope Councilors take heed of this petition and remember who they owe their jobs to.

Helensburgh needs pier Fixed and Waverly back to normal business

Failure to do so is another nail in the coffin of tourism in the town.

My grandpa caught the ropes and greeted the Waverley into Helensburgh his absolute pride and joy. I have very fond & happy memories as a little girl excited to meet the Waverley with him whenever I visited my grandparents in Helensburgh.

Thia pier is without doubt one of the most important attrabutes to the town of Helensburgh. Tourists & it's local people please don't let it dissappear it's iconic to the local landscape & has been since the steam age

Helensburgh's history is intertwined with the paddle steamers from Henry Bell's Comet onwards. First they cut the ferry service until it wasn't viable, now they say it is not a working pier. The council paid for major upgrades at Dunoon which then lost it's car ferry, we are governed by incompetents.

The pier is a great amenity for the whole community. We must restore it and bring back the Waverley, as well as opening up Helensburgh to cruise ship tenders coming over from Greenock.

Need a new ferry between Helensburgh and gourock .then on to places like Dunoon especially in summer time. This would save massive travel to Glasgow to return all the way back down the water to gourock -saving emission also

Over 1,270 signatures and still going. A fantastic achievement on top of the strong attendance at the 'Wave for the Waverley' event which took place on the pier on Saturday 20th April. Let's keep going until we reach 2,000 and demonstrate that Helensburgh WANTS and NEEDS its iconic pier repaired and restored and PS Waverley calling, once again, at its rightful stop on the North Shore of the River Clyde.
