The Waverley is an essential tourism attraction and should be visiting Helensburgh as part of it's tours on the Clyde.

The Pier for any Seaside Town is part of it’s heritage, for Helensburgh, so is The Waverley - as well as for the Clyde. I cannot understand how Argyll and Bute would allow for this to happen - Save the Pier!

It is unthinkable that Argyll & Bute Council, with all that coastline, could allow Helensburgh pier to deteriorate further. This sounds like an ideal cause for the EU to show it supports Scotland!!

The Waverley has been in my life since my Mum took my brother and me on her from Craignendoran as children. I can remember when her future was in danger until she was sold for a pound to the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. My father was often the piper who played her in on Saturday lunchtimes till his age finally caught up with him. So many people in the area and outwith it have a story to tell about this lovely old ship. She's part of the town's soul as far as I'm concerned and I hope to see and here her gliding and swishing towards Helensburgh Pier again soon.

Was there on holiday last year up from Manchester, my son enjoyed sitting on the Pier when the tide was in watching it splashing under the stair, good memories

Helensburgh pier is an important community asset which should be restored and new cross river links developed
