Newcastle Con needs to do way more than just revert to what they were a couple of years ago. They need a complete restart- new staff, courses and professors. But it definitely deserves another chance to get back from the disaster that it is at the moment

I understand the change subjects is boost growth with the economy but it is just absurd that it is MANDATORY that I do subjects that I have no understanding or background in!

I can’t imagine a Sydney University getting away with this. UoN goes unchallenged as the only local provider of many degrees and the lack of care for their students is evidenced by their continual destruction of programs and the graduates who cannot get a job relevant to their degree due to the haphazard chopping and changing that has occurred to their study plan at no fault of their own, among other issues. It’s time UoN listened to their students, for once. Enough is enough.

After COVID-19, the university of Newcastle changed the degree, added business course, such as entrepreneurship, design thinking, we aren't business person, we are musician, think about it, if we aren't studying music, how can we get the music job, start our music career, ridiculous! We aren't studying business degree, we are studying music degree, please respect our music student, also the teacher is irresponsible, for example, Sound studio session, we already started final assessment, but haven't got the mark from 1st and 2nd assessment, also musical arranging class , the teacher neve talked to us, also didn't let us use music software in class, didn't figure out each one issue, why not know about our situation, then give suitable instructions, even gave super low mark. The uni also didn't provide individual musical instructions, such as instrument and vocal, didn't focus on personal ability, do you want us to start band career in the near future? Ridiculous! Please respect music! Respect art!

Having already finished a BMUS degree, I couldn’t imagine doing a completely different subject as part of a MUSIC degree

I think if they don’t change it back they are going to lose a lot of students who choose to move to Sydney universities who support their work

As a music educator in high schools I am appalled at the BMUS lack of subject choice, level of depth, lack of individual instrumental development, and breadth of music styles studied. A BMUS MUST cater for the classical trained musician as well as those wanting to explore the contemporary world. It is barbaric to FORCE students to study contemporary and digital forms as the ONLY option. I agree that exposure to all styles is necessary, BUT BMUS students are not being exposed to anything beyond contemporary digital music. The current course could be completed at TAFE! I FEAR for the future of music education in our schools and in our world.

If you wanna remove music I don't care but let the people finish the degree they signed up for, even at your loss. You misled students into thinking they'd get a degree
