3-Feet --- Let's make it the LAW!?

Cyclists have a right to use public roads and are treated as motor vehicles under the law. The lack of education from a driver’s perspective is most disturbing. The general public is not aware what rights cyclist have as vehicles under the law. More needs to be done to educate drivers on safety, awareness, and the law.

In the past, Sugar Land has demonstrated a commitment to making a "bike-friendly" city. This would be a great, easy step in furtherance of that. Don't let Houston (which already has the 3-foot law) be more bike-friendly than Sugar Land.

This is a fear I have every time I ride on my own, with a group, and with my family. Most cyclists are very responsible and knowledgeable about the laws, what is the excuse for motorists. Too many cyclists have been injured or killed to be excusable. 3 feet dammit!

I have been riding for 20 years now and still find it interesting that we have so many deaths every year from negligent drivers. I've had cars purposely swerve at me, passengers in cars spit at me, I've had objects thrown at me, and just last year had a car hit me. Lives are in danger with careless, reckless, and agry drivers. I am in full support of having a task force issue citations for not obeying the 3' law.

We need change in the Houston area. What a great place for physical fitness and healthy lifestyle; what is the key missing ingredient? Adequate investment in the infrastructure! Safe biking and running should be a given, not just a wish.

You should also include motorcycles in the signage.

As big as they are, motorcycles are still treated like a nuisance to be force out of the way. It's much worse when you're talking about a bicycle. They're treated like annoying gnats to be swatted out of the way and fussed about for being on the same road as a car. It's a literal crying shame that that attitude is so pervasive. It is ignorant in the extreme.

There aren't enough laws currently in effect to protect the cyclists. It's not fair to them. Help change the laws, or incorporate new ones.
