We want SuddenLink Cable Internet Service in Longview Tx.
Let's
make sure that both The City of Longview (Chamber of Commerce) and
SuddenLink know that we want something new and something better!
Challenges:
1. According to the City of Longview Ordinance 95, there can indeed be 2
(or more) cable operators in the same geographical location. But, in
order for SuddenLink to operate here, it requires approval from the
Chamber of Commerce. We need to make sure that the Chamber of Commerce
for the City of Longview is aware of what the people want. 2. In
order for SuddenLink to operate in Longview, they must install new
infrastructure to carry services including physical fiber connections to
distribution boxes. There would be considerable upfront cost and
time for this. We have to let them know that if they invest in
Longview, Tx that there is going to be enough interest to make it feasible and worthwhile.
Longview Cable (CableLynx) provides slower internet speeds at higher prices: Internet Speeds and prices (without TV service, as of 2015-03-06): 16Mbps down, 2Mbps up @ $54.95/ month 25Mbps down, 2.5Mbps up @ $88.95/ month 50Mbps down, 3Mbps up @ $139.95/ month
SuddenLink's cable internet speeds and prices (as of 2015-03-06, from a nearby geographical location): 50Mbps down, 5Mbps up @ $35/ month 75Mbps down, 7.5Mbps up @ $45/ month 100Mbps down, 7.5Mbps up @ $55/ month
The stories about your current internet bills are eye opening. It is clear that the lack of competition is costing us all money.

The momentum for better internet in Longview is real. This is why we are pushing for competitive options.

Just moved here from Abilene. Had to sign up for Longview Cable. OMG there is no comparison with Suddenlink. Sure hope I can get Suddenlink back in the near future. I'm only a mile or so from the Pine Street HS so maybe Suddenlink will provide coverage in this area soon.

I'm tired of getting ripped off by the only cable/Internet company in town. I pay $250+ a month and have spotty Internet still!!!! I live in town and they still can't get it right. I would switch IMMEDIATELY of we had the option of Sudden Link.

Competition is the heart of free market capitalism. Longview Cable's monopoly needs to end for the benefit of all cable internet and television subscribers in Longview.
