You may have read in the local newspaper (Kimberley and Eastwood Advertiser) that a business has not been allowed to trade in Kimberley on Toll Bar Square despite agreeing on a rental price for the area.
That business is mine!
I own a Jacket Potato Van and have been trying for several months to get a pitch in Kimberley.
Having applied and been successful with Broxtowe Borough Council the decision was overturned at the last minute by two Conservative Councillors of Kimberley who ultimately should not be able to make this decision (as highlighted at a meeting with the Council)
I was born in Kimberley and still live in the area. I am a single parent with two children aged 3 & 2 and I am working hard to develop and grow my business to provide for my family, and believe others should be allowed the same opportunity.
While this application has been ongoing, I have successfully applied with Broxtowe Borough Council again for a pitch in Stapleford which has not suffered the same rejection and have been trading for approx 7 weeks now, with huge success and approval from local people
I believe it is really important for all types of businesses, particularly new businesses, to be allowed the opportunity to trade in Kimberley which is a thriving town, and to be accountable to the same application process as used for other places under the council's borough
I would be grateful if people would support my petition, for my business to trade, but more importantly to allow the same opportunities for all.

I am currently drafting a formal inquiry to the Broxtowe Borough Council regarding the specific authority invoked to overturn my application. My focus remains on establishing a standard and transparent protocol for future business permits in Kimberley.

Why are the council not supporting a new business set up?? Stephanie could just claim benefits but she is trying to set a great example, be an upstanding member of society and provide for her family, how is it right that the system is the only thing thats stopping her from doing this??
What harm can this woman do to existing businesses by trading occasionally? Her customers won't be the ones who want to sit in a coffee shop, they want to eat while going about their day so won't be taking business away from anyone else.
It would appear we have the most arcaic and antiquated council of all the areas , they still think Kimberley and Nuthall is in the 13th century . We have 5 beauty salons on one road , why can't this lady bring something new to the area ? . Go Stephanie ! Good luck x
Kimberley as a community would enjoy having Steph's business pitched locally. Baked spuds are an healthier option of 'fast' food! Subway, Gregg's & umpteen other takeaways are not promoting healthy eating yet they are permitted licences time after time. A young, working single mother doing her best... Give her a break!
typical of LOCAL town Councillors I had similar problem 30 years ago in Kimberley but I didnt give up.Give the girl a chance.
Everyone should be allowed to earn a living when starting to build up a new business.
Happy to add my support = free trade and choice should be supported . Kimberley shoppers and locals don't know what they're missing.

I could not believe it when I heard that permission for Stpehanie's van had been refused. I really couldn't see why. And now it seems its at the behest of two councillors who are not acting in the best interests of Kimberley residents. Its appalling. I really hope nobody votes for them again.
