Please, everybody, if you have a heart, sign this petition. Poor Sophie was torn from her family in a terrible way leaving them heartbroken. I know in my heart that Sophie misses them too. Imagine how she is feeling... thinking that they didn't love her or want her, that they just abandoned her in left. Her heart must be hurting.
please sign, bring this precious sweet home to her loving family where she belongs.

What a travesty of justice to Sophie and to both families. Here you have a dog who is loved and have 2 families that love her, but a loop hole clearly needs to be closed. I have rescued many a stray dogs and know for a fact that if chipped, they use the contact information on the chip to locate the owner. Who put the chip in? If their vet did..not only their contact info would be on the chip, but, the vet's contact info also would be there. Clearly, this family that adopted her, should give her back to original owners, not because anything wrong was done, but, because it is the right thing to do. Why didn't the person caring for the realize what an emergency this was though, and call local vets and Humane Society to notify and check about a lost dog? Surely, they should have at the very least contacted the family. The policy on the length of time a dog with a chip is held definitely needs changed for exactly this reason. Clearly, even if she hadn't been chipped, you can see she is loved and cared for just but her appearance, so common sense says, she has a family. 48 hrs. is not long enough, because of many reasons. Times have changed I am sure since this policy was looked at and revised and now you have multiple things to consider.... The old things like caregiver doesn't call the family because they are on vacation of course, but now with cell phones and not having coverage in certain parts of the country, or no signal, or a dead cell phone there is reason to reexamine the policy and change it... the 48 hr hold on an animal turned in can't possibly be long enough in today's world with all of the things that can interfere with finding the true family of a dog turned in....chipped or not. The Humane Society didn't do anything wrong in this case unless there is something we are missing, but I would think that someone there would have a heart and feel for this family and contact the new family and plead for them to return her to her original family.

Sophie should be returned to her family, her adoptive family should also do the right thing and return her. This should've happened by now without a petition, news etc.

A devastated family with 3 kids and a fur sister are missing their dog. Can you imagine what Sophie is feeling. First her family goes away and she misses them, she slips her collar and is running and scared. A stranger picks her up and takes her to Westmoreland County Humane Society, Now she is in a cage, alone and even more scared wondering why she is there. WCHS discovers there is a chip and despite that, they adopt her out. The family totally clueless as they are on vacation/business trip and dog sitter decides not to tell them until they get home. Poor Sophie, she has to be so confused. I've posted a plea to the adopters on the Humane Society 's facebook page and then they block me. They must have some wrong doings they are hiding. Please help bring Sophie home, she doesn't deserve all this.

Shelters are to help place animals into loving homes because they don't have one. Sophie had a loving home she just got away from the caregiver. Do what's right and give her back to her family.

Let Sophie go home to her original family. I would be crushed if I was in their shoes. It's wrong.
