Please make an exception in this case of an exceptional emergency, and an exceptional teacher. Clearly she had no intent of violating school policy or respect for authority, but only did so as a matter of life or death. The school could have been sued if the patient died; please consider her actions as saving a life as well as a lawsuit.

This is a clear example of what is wrong with our school system. I see the liability aspect but to lose a good teacher over something like this is outstanding. Maybe the principal should "resign"

Shame on them for punishing a good deed because of so called "insubordination". Good teachers, truly genuine hard working dedicated teachers are so rare and priceless these days and that's how you decide to treat them? High five your own forehead, you douche.

Teacher Mitts deserve to return. Services our kids for the past 14 years and this is her payback!!! no way, I put in the petition for her return.

As a mother of two children both over 18, I would have given this kind caring woman a raise. You should be ashamed of your selves for ever telling someone not to help a fellow human. I would be ashamed to say I was the school board or the principle of this school.

We need more caring teachers like Ms Mitts in this world, ones that actually care about the students they are teaching. If the "child" was over 18 then I don't understand what the problem is. He/She is a legal adult and can decide if it is ok for Ms Mitts to take him/her to a hospital. Give Ms Mitts back her job with back pay and a raise for the wonderful job she is doing taking care of her "children".

Ms. Mitts acted quickly to a situation that could have had fatal consequences. She did the right thing. School administrators should be ashamed of their actions in this situation. Blind adherence to procedures is part of larger false belief in which the human condition is devalued to the point that rules, regulations and laws are more important and more protected than the human lives they were created to serve.

What a great teacher! She needs to be rewarded, not sacrificed. She is not only a great teacher, she is a great human being that we should look up to and mirror her actions.

Rules sometimes don't take into account the humanity of the situation.

Every situation if life needs to be looked at as is, she did the right/ethical thing putting a students needs first. Just like many other things in this world, schools have become businesses and build rules to "protect" themselves against potential lawsuits and to make the most profit with the least amount of work. It is a shame that the principle would can an outstanding teacher and a exemplary individual who probably serves as a sole role model for many of her students.
