In a country with Universal Healthcare this would not have been an issue. Shame Tennessee is so far from Canada. Geographically and intellectually.

Teachers teach and lead by example. Does TN want a Zombie Nation? Give Miss Mitts her job back along with back pay! She is a great leader to students, a leader by example.

Common sense seems to have abandoned the world of public education. Since the NEA / Department of Education begin ramming their agenda down the throats of local ISDs the situation is getting worse. This is just another prime example of administrations forgetting the students come first. Stupid Bureaucrats!!!

Good luck at getting rehired AND starting a union because without it you could find yourself working 6 or 7 days a week like Japanese junior and high school teachers do here in Japan.

She did what any good christian would of done! Or for that matter any good person with good morals. If people complain against her it's because they feel ashamed that they wouln't of done the same. So to make themselves feel better they bash on this teacher...

I don't live in the area, but I am an American and a parent and I wanted to put my voice here. I now live in Australia, so I want the school to be aware that the world is watching them. It this EXACT kind of situation that makes the USA the laughing stock of the world. Instead of COMMENDING a teacher for going above and beyond her duty, you punish her for caring about another life. If your "school rules" prevent a teacher from valuing the health and wellness of the students, then you have no right to call yourselves a school. This teacher has the qualities that you should be looking for in EVERY teacher, and you punish her for it? What message are you sending to the parents? "We want your children at our school, but if they get sick (and die?) while they are here, that's just too bad... it's not our problem"? Is this the message you are conveying? It truly is sad that the people in charge of the school have less intelligence than the average second grade child. At this point, the only option is for you to reinstate her with back pay and a formal apology. At least try to recover your image. Or you can continue to give more intelligent people all over the globe reason to laugh. The "stupid Americans" global image exists because of people like you.
