It's no wonder there's a shortage of good teachers. You have them and carelessly "let them go"...:(

Bravo to Miss Mitts for doing the right thing! If more people were as considerate as her the world would be a better place! God bless you Miss Mitts!

This teacher needs a union! Principal Justin Robertson needs to resign immediately.

From a fellow teacher, I'd do the same thing Ms. Mitts! Don't change who you are to follow the rules of "the man"!

This teacher should be commended for her caring and human support of her students and this School should be sued for human rights violations.

What happened to the idea that kids come first? If this teacher did not go the 2nd mile in helping this student, what was the intention of the administration? This is another tragic event of poor leadership within our schools if the events stated are true. Where was the leadership in helping this student? If the student was as sick as stated, why didn't the leadership step in to help?

No idea how anyone deals with being a public school teacher these days. Most difficult, thankless job ever where they are daily held to virtually impossible standards. Now this. The time is soon coming where there will not be enough teachers to staff the schools. I have a teenager. Nobody intends to go into education. They see first hand what it entails nowadays and they don't want any part of it.

I don't live in Tennessee or know Miss Mitts but common sense tells you that this is a good and caring person. Teachers like this need to be encouraged not bullied into resigning.

This is typical reaction from a Christian principal. I mean...WWJD?....apparently Hesus would kick both teacher and student to the curb.
