I love her. She's an amazing teacher. She shouldn't have to resign. She needs her job back. She loves kids.

As a teacher, I am dismayed when the heroic actions of another teacher are called into question. I am further appalled when such a kind and caring gesture is used a grounds for disciplinary action against the teacher. When we teach, we cherish the community that we serve, the families, the students, and the sum of their needs to succeed. We address the whole aspect of the child, not just the academic side.

While I can understand that it wasn't protocol for a teacher to take a student alone off campus, I feel like what happened was not a firing offense. Kid needed a doctor, so the teacher took her there. What the heck, Mr. Principal?

Miss Mitts has always been a caring and compassionate teacher. She should NOT be punished for caring for her students the way she would her own children. I had her more than 6 years ago.

Lack of commom sense once again in our public schools. One less fantastic teacher who actually cares about students in our public schools. UGH.
Red Bank High and (lack of) Principal Robertson need to re-hire Ms Mitts! Hamilton County School Board needs to get off the short bus as they look like fools!!

The student was 20 years old, which is considered an adult. She should be allowed to make the decision if it's ok for the teacher to take her to the hospital. No offense, but a school nurse would have just had her lay down until she feels better. Maybe send her home. At least thats what my school nurse always did, this could've killed the girl. Then where would the school be. IN TROUBLE! The teacher did right. The student could not drive herself. 911 could have been called by the teacher, depending on the health condition. I still feel she should not have been fired for taking an adult to the hospital. The Principal should have watched her class.

THe student needed immediate medical attention and could have died. People like this restore my faith in humanity and I would want someone to do the same for me if I was in this situation! Miss Mitts should have her job back!
