This is what's wrong with the education system in America.

What is wrong with the American system? In Canada, this teacher would be praised! Good job Miss Mitts! You are the type of teacher students can look up to and other teachers should learn from.

She had permission. As long as she had her classroom covered and had permission, the school is wrong for letting this jewel get away. Teachers like her are assets and should be nurtured and encouraged.

She did the right thing. Now the school needs to do the right thing.

What a misguided decision by the school authorities. Also, this never has to happen in Canada given our public health system with no uninsured individuals.

I had Ms. Mitts at Red Bank in high school and she was a compassionate teacher without fail. I am not surprised that she would be the one who would do this FOR her student as I saw it in action myself. She is loving, she is kind, and she is a true teacher teaching not only english, but also how to be wonderful in life. The school systems are placing their care in themselves rather than the care of their students. I would have done the same thing.

a little common sense goes a LONG way. This is ridiculous, a waste of money and a good teacher's talents over a trivial issue.

I live in Ontario Canada. I feel that the parents of the students should pull their kids out for fear that if one of them got severely ill at school the faculty, by this precedent, would be forced to stand by and let the child die. Disgraceful

THE HYPOCRACY OF IT ALL, SOMEONE WHO DOES GOOD THINGS FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY, AND SHE IS PUNISHED FOR IT. WHATS THE MATTER RED BANK AFRAID YOUR GOING TO GET A GOOD REPUTATION? STOP THE STUPIDITY!

It's a nice lesson in civics and morals: do right by others with no regard for yourself, and be punished. This whole situation is intolerably ridiculous. If Ms. Mitts should be made an example of, it should be for how we should care for one another unconditionally. The message this action sends: don't get involved. Hardly appropriate in the halls of education.

This is BS. Every week we keep hearing about something or other in the American school system. Are the official TRYING to create a nation of uncaring, money hungry retards?! Supporting your cancerous friend with a haircut should be praised not punished! And then officials wonder why American schooling is laughed at in the world.

This is an outrage, she should've been commended for her action, but instead they make her into a liability for being a Good Samaritan!
