My daughter showed me this article on the Huffington Post, we cannot believe it. Its is just sad what school systems and so many public organizations do for "liability purposes". Its getting ridiculous. Next thing you know teachers wont be allowed to preform the heimlich on choking students for fear of breaking a rib and being suied.

I am dumbfounded! It is clear that the Principal is suffering from a lack of common sense. Ms. Mitts if you are leaving this sorry excuse for a school we would love to have you at one of our schools here in Canada as we are always looking for kind, compassionate teachers with a good head on their shoulders. I am so sorry you have to deal with these simpletons within your school board.

What lesson does this send to your students?

The ironic thing is that if the student had diied on this teachers watch, she would have been made to look bad too. People need to stop being so political, especially when it comes to our childrens lives. If thatwas my child, I would have been so happy she took them to the hospital; LET ALONE paid the bill. People are so ungrateful it is disgusting.

She is being punished for doing the right thing in the event of an emergency? That is ridiculous.

If she wasn't a teacher but maybe the students next door neighbor would it make a difference? I don't think so, she did the right thing, give her her job back and let her continue doing it!

Your school policy needs to be overlooked as this was an emergency. YOU ARE STUPID Ms. Stacey Stewart. Have you know sympathy for others.

Hi, I'm Canadian and Irish. Up here and over there, this is a basic right, just like it is in any other civilized place on earth. You Americans should really pull it together. This kind of thing makes your whole country look and remain the laughing stock of the planet. Get your s*** together.

News travels fast, Red Bank High School in Tennessee!! I'm from Canada, and worked in education for nearly 10 years as a support staff member... Policy should not preclude common sense or Good Samaritanism!
