Mother of God. Have we lost all sense of reason? OF COURSE we help someone who is seriously ill. I am frightened by any group that might think otherwise.

As an educator, I am deeply offended that an outstanding teacher could be forced out of her job after compassionately caring for one of her students. The best teachers recognize that our commitment to our students does not stop at the classroom door. Reinstate Ms. Mitts NOW!

She should not be fired--she should get a medal.

I am a Canadian, but as a former teacher I know good teachers are hard to find. To fire someone for being compassionate and caring for her students beyond the classroom is total absurdity. The principal should be fired for stupidity and incompetence not to mention uncaring for the students and teachers under his care.

I had Mrs. Mitts for a whole year. I always looked forward to my 4th period AP English class. She always made every situation brighter and ive never had a teacher make class as fun as she did. She made a point to not only be a teacher but also a friend. I love Mrs. Mitts and this is stupid. People are mean!

We need to encourage more compassionate people like Ms. Mitts - not discourage them.

Take her back. Apologize. Pay for all time off. Give her a raise, and thank her.
