Red Bank High School you suck at being human, it is truely unlikely that you care about the welfare of the students and therefore have NO place in the education BUSINESS at all!!

We need a lot more teaches like this. I have been faced with teachers that is only there to get their sad pay and call it a day. Teachers sure need more support as they hold our future in their hands.

Shame on the administration for punishing a great teacher doing an even greater thing. They obviously have no heart.

Promote human kindness not fear of litigious society.

We should reward people for stepping in and helping people who don't have health insurance. This is a sad disgrace!

The school should be ashamed! I can't believe she wouldn't have gotten an award! The community should out the schooboard for this and re-hire Mitts with back pay.

School systems are beginning to overstep their boundaries and need to be taught a lesson.

What is this world coming to? There should be more people in the world like Ms. Mitts, and instead of celebrating her humanity - she has been punished.

It's sad that you do a good deed you get punshied for it. Teachers are there to help and protect the students. I'm pro gun but what about teachers the can carry on school campus and the kids as not been tought the right way about guns and a student gets ahold of it. would the teacher be libley for the safty of the kids?

This is idiotic. How can HELPING a student seek MEDICAL HELP be anything but good?

what a horrible principal and a wonderful teacher. they should replace the principal, probably with someone who cares as much about the students as this woman.

As educators, our primary concern is the well-being of our students. This is not limited to academics; we want them to be at their best physically and emotionally so they can focus on their academic studies. If these areas suffer, how can we expect them to comprehend and retain that which we are teaching? Most of us are willing to go the extra mile and either provide the help they need, whether that means getting them food, shoes, hygiene items they're out of, or a coat. Maybe they have an urgent need to see a doctor, though rules may state you can't transport student. Many would make the same choice as Ms. Mitts: get the young lady to the hospital right next to the school immediately. First of all, Ms. Mitts knew the student was uninsured, and an ambulance would have cost several hundred dollars despite proximity. It was money simply not available. Next, as the student was not a minor at age 20, I can't speak for Ms. Mitts but I can understand how she may have thought it permissable to simply drive the young lady next door to the ER. I would have thought so myself. Now, we know the student had multiple infections as well as a temperature of 105. All of this, in addition to being 7 months pregant, made the situation an emergecy due to the possibility of eclampsia. This could have killed the student and her unborn baby boy. Her decision to act could very well have saved these two lives.

Maybe if more people being greed and always look for a lawsuit. Maybe things could change. I see nothing wrong with what she did.
