The 39th Street District has long served as a cultural and economic cornerstone of Oklahoma City’s LGBTQ+ community. It is home to local businesses, nightlife, and community hubs that provide safety, belonging, and opportunity to thousands of residents and visitors every year.
We’re incredibly grateful for the more than $2 million the City of Oklahoma City has invested into the 39th Street District. That support has made a real impact. Still, there’s so much more potential for growth and improvement in our neighborhood—potential that could be unlocked with continued investment and support.
We are calling on Oklahoma City leaders to recognize the value of the 39th Street District and prioritize it for MAPS funding. This investment would support much-needed improvements such as:
• Safer sidewalks and lighting
• Street beautification and public art
• ADA accessibility upgrades
• Community gathering spaces
• Infrastructure support for small and LGBTQ-owned businesses
It’s time for equitable investment. Sign this petition to urge our city council, MAPS board, and planning officials to include 39th Street in future funding and revitalization efforts. Our community deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

It would be a wonderful addition for those seeking venues away from the immediate downtown
Let’s be truly fair about anllocations for improvements here in the city. This includes marginalized communities such as our unique and vibrant corridor, that contribute greatly to the economic, community and social benefit of Oklahoma City citizens, neighbors and our cherished visitors.
This community has come to be family to me a place where I can be my true self without hiding I feel loved and appreciated
