This just plain common sense. You don't RIP family members from their home. This dog is a family member. Do the right thing give this dog back to his family.

Please allow K9 Poseidon to remain with his family. There is no reason to rip him away from them. Steve has offered to pay for him and training for a new dog. To keep him away from his family is vindictive and small minded.

As Police Comissioner for the Town of Newburgh, Indiana, we have written into Town Ordinances and Department SOP's that upon leaving the department, the handler has the option of keeping his partner. We also have an inter-department agreement that allows the handler can keep the dog if going to another department upon payment of a mutually agreeable amount. Poseidon should be returned to his handler; he'll have difficulty moving to a new partner.

This is a disgrace. Poseidon has been severed from the only family he's known. This is cruel and inhumane to a dedicated dog. He is not civil property, he is a dog who needs his family. Mayor Gunn should hang his head in shame. After all the terrible things going on on this country, they could have shown kindness and care to both Steve Patterson and Poseidon for their service. Steve Patterson offered to purchase Poseidon and buy the department a new dog. No. It's Mayor Gunn's way or the highway and the dog and the family suffer needlessly. My heart bleeds for them. Mayor Gunn please rethink your decision and send Poseidon home to his family!

Let Mr. Patterson keep Poseidon! You have been offered reimbursement plus additional money for a new K-9! You should do what is in the best interest for Poseidon! Give him back to his family!
