We just added pickle ball lines to the al kruse tennis center courts. Now we have people playing Pickleball every day. If you build pickleball courts they will come out and play. The sports is one of the fastest growing sports in u.s.a

We have been Winter Texans for 5 years. We choose to come here for the climate, the people and pickleball. There are other choices for us. At least 5 days a week. for 3 to 4 hours a day, you will find a gathering of pickleball players at the RF high school tennis courts. The players who come are enthusiastic about this sport...as they chalk the lines of the court, bring their personal nets and balls...and openly welcome a continuous stream of new players, want to be players, and other travelers searching for this sport. It is the spirit of these people and their tenacious love of this sport...not the facilities that is impressive. Please know that rv parks, hotel/rental business, tourism, and many business constituents will benefit with an investment in permanent pickleball courts in Rockport.

We winter in Rockport and would love to see the city expand their efforts in building an effective pickleball program for the community. In the last 5 years I have been active in our community in getting a program started and I believe we have one of the best anywhere in the U.S. Currently, we have over 350 e-mail contacts for active players. We began with just 6 hours of available play and in May of 2020, we will offer 25 hours of available play each week. We have a complete set of courses that anyone can sign-up to take covering all levels and age groups. Pickleball is not just good for the players, it is good for local economies and the social structures of any community. I am always willing to assist or answer any questions on how we structured our local program.

Pickleball is by far the fastest growing sport in the country and an especially popular sport with the active middle-aged and senior community. If Rockport would just look at communities in Florida and Arizona and California that provide Pickleball courts for their citizens and to attract more Winter Texans, I sincerely believe they would see a boost in Rockport’s economy and popularity.

We are Winter Texans for the past 5 years. The perfect climate, wonderful and kind people, and large group of enthusiastic pickleball players keeps us coming back. In Rockport on any given week the tennis courts at the high school are full of players who use chalk to line courts, bring their own portable nets nd balls and assemble teams of 4 players to enjoy 3 to 4 hours of exercise, laughter, and skills improvement for a sport we love. The numbers of new players that join each week and the "drive by" curious that pick up the game grow each week.We come from a tourist based community of only 4,000 and have had great success working with our County and Parks and Rec. Dept. to build 6 permanent courts. Seldom are our dedicated tennis courts used as the older players have turned to pickleball. Please Rockport. make this a prioity. Your rv lodging and hotel/rental , and business based constituents will support this petition. It's a win win for Rockport

Having played PB in quite a few different states I have to say that Rockport, Port Aransas and Corpus Christi are some of my favorite places to play the exception being almost all the other locations have multiple dedicated courts and without exception have experienced tremendous growth resulting in financial benefits for the community. Port A and Corpus are already making plans to expand so let’s not be left behind

As 4 month winter Texans and owners of a Rockport condo we need pickleball facilities for personal health and as an attraction for potential renters. Pickleball is most attractive to active adults and seniors who make up most of the winter tourist population.
