Over 35+ years Dave has grown the tennis program into one of the best and biggest public park programs in the midwest. He developed the program into a community hub across generations. He led fundraising for the program, donated personally thousands of dollars (including to the new tennis pavilion), did ad-hoc landscaping, organized an ambitious range of travel teams and junior tournaments, and recently a pro tournament (quite rare in the entire midwest) and he offered a unique volume of programs for all levels and interests. He led with enthusiasm and inclusion. He helped give a lot of kids focus and a purpose and introduced countless to a great sport and has won national USTA awards and people across Chicagoland tennis understand his contributions.
Dave Evans is one of the most genuine, generous, and kind-hearted spirits I’ve known; he has been integral in championing WS tennis and the reconstruction of the Spring Rock courts demolished by the I-294 project. Please support this petition to encourage the Rec Center’s reconsideration of their misguided, ill-informed, erroneous, and (likely) impulsive decision that occurred yesterday (6/9) on the precipice of the inauguration of the new courts today (6/10). Thank you! #SaveDave2020

Please revisit the decision to dismiss Dave. He’s invaluable and we need him to continue to bring joy and pride to those many participants of his tennis programs

Nobody can run WS tennis like Dave. I’ve worked for him and sent emails for him and i’ve seen some of his emails that say they were sent at 4:00 in the morning. This just shows how much time he dedicates to the program.
