I fully support this petition. We desperately need to renovate mathematics education in the United States. The primary objective must be to teach data science so that high school graduates are able to manipulate large data sets, perform analysis and draw informed conclusions. The real world already requires these skills, and we are falling short of preparing students for these demands.

I believe understanding stats and being more literate with reading and interpreting data will help young people avoid falling victim to various form of misinformation.

We need to teach 21st-century math. Additionally, it needs to be real-world math, math that is useful and enables the next generation to navigate, lead, build, and question the world.

There is a need to reassess how we teach in the US, and one of the first ways we can better prepare our children for their futures is to teach them data literacy.
