I better shut my mouth. Fair board members, really?

Banning the guy from attending a public event goes beyond proper disciplinary action and is basically bullying.

This is outrageous what Hudsonville Fair is doing.

He has gone above by taking full responsibility!!! Let him help Maddie!!!

Damn shame when people can treat a good guy that way. Darren i hope they help u get what you and your child deserve and you are a part of her experience this year. To the committee people that took the steps to remove him and not let him particapate in anyway with his child, should think about being a good christian cause thats a huge thing in hudsonville christian like people

Thats a bunch of crap it is a public fair grounds maybe we should boycott the 2019 fair. People are human and make mistakes but im sure the holy board members are saints.

Please let Maddie's dad help her at the fair and watch her show her animals.

I understand a rule is a rule and should be followed, however this decision had absolutely no personal gain. This decision was done with only the exhibitor's best interest at heart. By taking away his rights to be at the fairgrounds, therefore not being able to help and support his daughter, this punishment extends to her, and this is not right, plain and simple. The amount of time and hours that this family has put into the livestock program is unimaginable. To have all that work and commitment end like this is sad. I also firmly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and that all opinions should be respected, but to sign anonymously. If you want your voice heard, sign with your name and stand behind your comment. I too would like to know of these accusations, or main reasons, as I have also read the letter he was given, and nowhere does it mention anything other than the weight issue. Thank you Darin and Emmelander family for all of the time you have put into the 4h program. Please know that hasn't gone unnoticed by everyone.

This should not affect his daughter or him seeing her through her competition. He should be allowed to see his daughter compete.

I posted the exact letter penned by the fair board stating their reasons. Unless “ Anonymous “ you are aware of any other reasons perhaps personal , or rumors , that the fair board would be hiding behind as you are behind a keyboard. You look pathetic and spiteful, and rather petty. This was a terrible, hateful thing to do , and most of all , it was cowardly , which is exactly why you are posting “ Anonymously “

November 28,2018 Darin Emelander At the 2018 Hudsonville Fair , there was a protest that the Weights of a steer and some hogs were not entered correctly into the weight record paperwork. The weight on the scale was reported as not matching The recorded weight of the animals At the beginning of the fair weigh in. We contacted you and you did admit That you had instructed The recorders to enter the minimum weight requirements As required by the Hudsonville Fair instead of the actual weights Which were below the minimum The animals in question were reweighed And In fact did not meet the minimum and were disqualified from showing. This caused a lot of resentment Amongst a great number of 4-H members and the community In addition to those directly affected 4-H members It has caused an air of distrust amongst the 4H community and the Hudsonville community fair As a result Of your violation of the Hudsonville fair rules The board ruled that we are not accepting your association membership this year and association membership from you will not be allowed in the future in addition the fair board ruled that we are prohibiting you from being involved in any fair activities or being on the grounds during the 2019 Hudsonville fair week. We trust that you will respect and follow this ruling Hudsonville community fair board

Shocking , that you post as “Anonymous” I have read the letter from the fair board regarding this matter and it can be posted here if you wish, it states exactly what is expressed in the Petition as to the reason for this decision. So by all means, please share your accusations in full detail for us

Removing a leadership title is one thing, but banning someone from a public event?

My family and my brothers commitment to this fair goes back over 30 years. It is absolutely impossible to calculate the time and energy they have dedicated in this endeavor, and I would urge you to ponder the words “commitment” and “dedicated “. They were chosen very carefully, I personally can provide validity to their meaning in this instance. Unfortunately both the experience of 4 H and fatherhood only last for a limited time. I would respectfully and humbly ask that you look deep within yourselves, and decide if indeed, depriving these important life defining moments between a father and daughter are truly warranted.

All my kids wanted to do was show 4H animals. It is long summer days giving up but they LOVED it. One year we went to 2 fairs showing pigs (different pigs) and in Oct one fair board denied my kids from showing the following year. We did all we could but ended up having to take them to court. The judge was shocked this even had to go to court. Let's support kids and agriculture and all they learn hands on! Too many kids are doing terrible things. 4H is NOT one of them
