This service should be restored immediately. There was a number to call for information in this weeks Pilot even though they abruptly cancelled the program.

My son has been going too CIS for the past two years, I was planning on signing him up at open house! How can you cancel it before school even starts?! On the other hand, thank you for continuing this service, now we scrambling trying to figure out what to do.

In response to the community concern to keep the CIS Before and After School programs operating for the 2016-17 school year: We have heard and are responding to the community’s desire to keep the Before and After School programs in operation. Although CIS may need to subsidize these fee based programs (as a minimum of 20 students are needed to ensure sustainability), CIS is committed to the students and families of Brunswick County and will be ready to accept students on Monday at Southport, Bellville and Town Creek Elementary Schools when school starts back.

Much needed program! Impacts so many children that will now have to face the option of staying alone in the morning and afternoon!

My child has attended CIS of Belleville for two years. I have the application and was planning on turning in an open house. I'm extremely disappointed that nobody notified me to let me know they were not going to continue program.

A much needed service to our community. I was going to sign my son up at open house only to find out it has been eliminated that day.

I think that as a taxpaying citizen into the BCS system, that this is an important program for working moms and dads. Please reinstate it.

I was planning on having my daughter in the program this year. I was looking forward to having her out of a daycare. I myself was in community in schools and it was wonderful. I am very disappointed that they have canceled the program and I had to hunt for another option.

My daughter who will be 19 next month attended CIS while going to Union Elementary. When my son started kindergarten he was enrolled. Both went to the summer programs. Unfortunately this will be the second year CIS will not be offered at Union and this past summer was the first year it was not offered. It has been a great loss not only to the children but to the parents as well. I have supported this program from day one and have been completely disgusted with the ending of this program. If there was better communication with the parents I am sure the enrollment numbers would be up to where they need to be. Waiting until the last minute to inform families that depend on this program is just ridiculous. Maybe it would help to contact families and take a poll of how many children would actually attend if the program was offered?? After all it's called Communities in School! Shouldn't the community be involved somehow?

My family is at a loss after just finding out at the open house tonight that they were shutting the program down. It has left us with 1 business day to find another program not feasible.

I was devastated to find out today that this was ending. My husband and I work full time to support 3 kids and utilize this program every year!

Totally ridiculous to find out about this at the Lincoln open house this evening. In fact, upon entry to the school, we were handed a printout that stated that we should go to the media center to sign up for CIS. My husband and I both work out of town and will suffer if the morning program is cancelled. I have been told that there are two private services in the area that may be of assistance, however I do not know the cost or availability as we learned of this closing at 6:15 tonight
