It's appalling that a teacher can be sacked over an accident. Even the pupil involved has stated that he has not suffered because of what happened. Good teachers are hard to find! Reinstate him & stop this cotton wool approach with kids. It was an accident for god sake!!

I can't find the words to discribe how wrong sacking Mr West is. I now work in education, I understand the need to ensure safety but this is appalling! I think it is disgusting how educators can loose their life's work because of one freak accident. And this is a perfect example of how schools are shooting themselves in the foot by so easily sacking their best educators! Just goes to show how teachers are not praised enough for their dedication and hard work but so quickly ridiculed for something that was nothing more than an accident! Mr West should be fully reinstated and those who decided on this over the top punishment should stop and realize the importance of such wonderful teachers such as Mr West. I am not a scientist, I had no interest in this subject until Mr West taught me, and I've had no interest in it since. But I learnt more in my year with Mr West than I did with the majority of teachers at that school. This is nothing short of a travesty! And if Mr West can see this I hope he knows what an inspiration he has been to 1000s of students and how in many opinions teachers should be learning from him!

Mr west is a full on badman. He's a great teacher, and his career has been ruined over some stupidness. This school needs to fix up if they sacking one of the best and favourite teachers I'n the school. ERM.

I attend the neighboring school so I don't know the guy. But this seems like a shame and you guys obviously want him back!
