How come the UCL Council was not consulted??? What's in their rules of Governance?

It is an over reaction to have made Tim Hunt resign...he certainly should have thought more carefully about what he said but he did not say something that should lead to him losing his job...far to extreme ...

He merely spoke his true experience, he did not actually discriminated against any woman as his cv suggested. We still have single sex schools, which support good learning especially for girls. Can any one provide any evidence Tim has ill treated any woman? Tim 's summary dismissal is unacceptable.

Yes, he made an inappropriate comment, and no, he shouldn't have said that. But at the same time, is one unfortunate remark really more important than a lifetime of work? Is a silly attempt at a joke really enough of a reason to ruin a man's life and career? I think the people who started this mass hysteria should sit down and ponder on that.

Although i did share a clickbait blog post about this subject, i felt his comments were taken far too seriously and his contribution to science and women in science over the years are invaluable. Bring a marketer in science, clickbair articles drive website visits, it was nothing personal!

Still, Tim was lucky. Alan Turing was forced to commit suicide for something about as relevant to his genius as in Tim's case: he was not sexist, he was gay.
