The man was obviously excellent at his job. A great talent and resource will be wasted for the sake of a "joke" if he is not reinstated.

One of my most senior executive staff, Dr. Michelle Ginsburg, worked with Dr. Hunt and not only testifies to his good character, but has always said that he was immensely supportive of her and all of her colleagues, male and female alike. Not everyone is a skilled comedian, and a joke that is not funny or is in poor taste should not be grounds for dismissal. Shame on the administration for their cowardly, knee jerk reaction to the specter of adverse publicity.

The sacking by UCL of Sir Tim Hunt was grossly disproportionate. His comments were poorly made, but did not merit the reaction from the University

A woman bans white men from a meeting and keeps her job. He says a silly thing and is canned. Feminist driven hypocrisy at it's worst!

please reinstate Mr Tim Hunt without further delay as his dismissal is now making others look rather over the top in the treatment they handed out for a rather humerous and off the cuff comment! What happened to free speech anyway?!

I think UCL has shown a complete lack of judgement in its desire to appear politically correct.

If you value free speech accept that sometime some folk will take offence , it is not a crime to cause offence. If you disagree with Tim Hunt - argue with him. This was a completely tongue in cheek remark - people who have had a humour by pass take offence. I am a female computer scientist.

Just how low can this sad little country of ours sink? We seem to be heading towards a totalitarian fascist state.

This used to be a nice quiet country many years ago where women were proud of their femininism. Now many are just a bunch of "Twitter Goons" who are fat, lazy and bored and dare I say it-thick!

As a women who has worked alongside many men in equal positions, I totally agree with Tim Hunt and think he has been treated grossly unfairly and should be re-instated immediately with apologies. The reality of both sexes working together is that it does not always go smoothly and as a women who has worked hard to prove that I could do just as well in any job as any man I feel that this is a ridiculous over reaction by people who have no idea of real life. He is doing far more for this world than the stupid people pulling him down. Give him his job back.
