Totally over the top reaction by "feminist" bullies. I seriously worry about the lack of freedom of speech.

Shame on the thought police. Reinstate Tim Hunt now!

I wonder how many women complaining about his comments have ever used the term "man-flu". They should judge his actions if they cannot appreciate his humour.

For goodness sake - have people lost their sense of humour! To hound this clever man out of his job for what he said was just a witch hunt.

When women in important places can get away with hashtags like 'killallwhitemen' it's important that ordinary people stand up and be counted!

Disgusting behaviour by UCL going along with narrow minded humourless boring killjoys.

It is utterly ridiculous that a person be treated in this unacceptable manner.

This man is the victim of a pc witch hunt. As a life long feminist, I have always fought against the idea that women see themselves as victims and have no problem with what he said, as there was nothing offensive about it, About time some so called feminists stop seeing themselves as victims and start behaving like adults.

freedom of speech should be respected! Tim tried to make a joke that turned not well, but it is not reason for him to be crucified by the media and those called Feminists! I am women and I did not feel offending by his words! I am happy that he speaks his mind and shows a little of personality! Bring back him!

This politically correct forced resignation is a disgrace. Those responsible for forcing Sir Tim Hunt to resign are represent a serious threat to society and should be publicly shamed.

I hope UCL have had time to reconsider and reinstate Sir Tim.

Ridiculous overreaction by UCL... whoever pushed this ought to resign not Hunt.

What is going on? Trial by gossip? What if the Duke of Edinburgh's comments were resented by the baying hate mobs? Would he have to resign. Would Harriet Harmon resign if here statements on men were made public?

I am appalled that UCL have overreacted in this way and it reflects very badly on them. They cannot afford to lose someone with such experience, talent and academic gravitas. I am very sad that Sir Tim Hunt has been treated in such a cruel way.

He has a right to his opinion, and his opinion was not directed at any one person with thought to doing them harm.
