An innocence joke alone should never be the cause of suspension.

Seems like we are regresing into the dark times again. With the diference being that insteat of being hunted for whitchcraft and in the name of God(s), people are now getting their lives ruined for their sence of humor, in the name of political corectness.

I can't stomach the shocking betrayal of this distinguished intellectual. It's Michael Arthur who should be 'on his way'. Peter Boult

It is time to stop the online bullying of people. Sir Tim Hunt did not deserve the treatment he got. Especially from a dubiously credentialed person such as Connie St Louis.

A great scientist was trying to be funny, and his remark was taken out of context. It was unfortunate and he apologized. He should be allowed to move on and continue to work.

This is apparently just a joke. He met his wife in the lab and what he described is truth. We need to look at his action, not a joke!!

A joke is no crime.

I'd like to see a rare victory for common sense - something so increasingly rare that it seems unusual calling it 'common.'

I am appalled and angered by the treatment of Sir Tim Hunt by UCL and the Royal Society. Political correctness has been threatening our culture and our liberal institutions for many years and it is shocking and frightening to see what damage it can do. Sir Tim Hunt must be reinstated (if he can be persuaded) and apologies must be made to him.
