So a geniuses life-saving work should come to a halt because of the rantings of a bunch of lunatics? You don't deserve him but still, you should apologize just in case he would magnanimously decide to return. Fortunately, he probably has other better offers.

The one point that most everyone is missing is that what these women and administrators at UCL are as immature as 3 year olds if they take offense at a JOKE. Immaturity is the single greatest problem facing Humanity today. PC thinking and politically correct, "1984" behavior is its bastard child.

We should be aiming for at least 5000 signatures here. This kind of situation cannot be tolerated, or we'll soon have lost civilisation.

Even if Sir Tim's comments were perceived to be offensive by some straitjacketed , humourless and narrow minded individuals, Sir Tim's losing his position and society losing his talents are draconian measures when compared to the allegedly hurt feelings of the thought police and the twitter mob.

It is a horrible reflection on society when something as ridiculous as this gets blown out into such a huge scandal. I guess free speech counts for nothing these days.

As a young female scientist I could not believe that a reputable institution gave in to an obviously uninformed, uneducated and humourless online mob.

This has been blown very much out of proportion.
A great life time of hard work has been totally ignored over one single comment.
Imagine if we threw away every great British person over single comments. Perhaps Newton would have been kicked to the curb. Maybe Isembard Kingdom Brunel would never get to finish his great engineering works.
UCL is clearly run by some very short sighted people.

This is a shabby way to treat such a respected scientist. A response to this sotuation should be made after a review of the facts and a discussion with Sir Tim Hunt rather than quickly following media reports.

Sir Tim Hunt comes out of this with credit, UCL unfortunately now has again to earn respect as a serious scientific body and not a politically motivated eunuch.

Daughter of a science teacher, widow of another. I may not agree with what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it. Anyway, feminists ought to have a sense of humour.

Why are so many people supporting Sir Tim after criticizing him for what he said? What they should be doing is having the courage to admit that he was telling the truth, instead of clutching the skirts of political correctness.
