He was hounded out of his job because he dared speak candidly about his experiences. Sharon Osborne laughed heartily about a man who had his penis cut off and thrown in the garbage disposal - neither she or the other women who laughed with her on the popular TV show were sacked or had their careers affected. Lets get some perspective please.

People who do not understand social media need to do the maths: every social media upvote is worth twice its weight, because most people simply do not upvote; conversely every downvote is worth half, because the moment one idiot protests, the rest of the trolls come out of the woodwork to make themselves look interesting.
Here's a tip: someone with a Nobel is inherently smarter than you, they should only be fireable by other people with Nobels.

A man of great insight and scientific usefulness has been sacrificed on the altar of "social justice" clearly his remarks were somewhat insensitive but removing him is a massive overreaction by people who should know better.

I'm a woman with a PhD in mechanical engineering and I'm smart enough to see that those comments were obviously a joke. It's just plain stupid that someone should lose their job over making a joke like that. I actually thought it was quite a funny joke too.
