Callout culture is a terrible thing. When Mob Mentality meets ill-informed armchair activists, the intentions seldomly justify the actions.

These PC bastards and feminazis. Not everybody needs to convert to your acceptable views of what can and can not be said. Especially in a joke.

A man who has proven his merits and is obviously a very capable scientist should not have to resign for giving his personal opinion. Especially not since it was given in a much larger context and singled out without the least bit of nuance.

This was an unceremonious pressure campaign to make a pioneer of the sciences fall on his sword for harmlessly speaking his mind and then being taken out of context.
If I am to choose between someone like him continuing to advance medicine or a few people's feelings being fraudulently hurt, then it's the easiest choice in the world.

This man dedicated his life to science and improving humanity's understanding of biology and his career is ruined in a 15 second lighthearted joke taken out of context by radical progressives. The hypersensitive reaction from the media is a disgrace.

I blame the UCL and ERC more than the social media mob since they responded to this situation with such cowardice. It's a twitter mob. If no one paid attention, they would have no power. Ignore the tantrums of these SJWs.

This social justice warrior nonsense has got to stop. First Dr Matt Taylor, now Tim Hunt. More science and less outrage-blogging/tweeting please, feminists!

UCL should not have put its corporate image ahead of its duty of care towards its academics and their freedom to explore and express ideas. The recent revelation that the remarks were, indeed, a joke, and that Hunt's speech was actually very supportive of women scientists, makes it even more important that UCL apologise and reinstate his position immediately. It's what Bentham would have wanted...

UCL'S knee-jerk response to the Stalinist lynch-mob of social media was outrageous and quite possibly illegal. Tim Hunt and his wife should be re-instated immediately.
