I've just been notified that a transgendered woman named "Tina Hunt" has been fired from her job after being silenced by the bigoted U Cal.
Transmisogyny is a serious crime and one the university needs to answer for. The ones responsible for her firing need to be fired and Tina needs to sue, and should open a Patreon account ASAP.

We shouldn't be firing people from their jobs for their personal opinions, let alone personal opinions that we've sorely taken out of context and tried to twist. Tim Hunt seems like a great man, and while I'll never meet him or know him, he doesn't deserve backlash around one negative comment from people that have no influence or hold in science whilst they ignore his many positive comments.

As an aspiring scientist, and as one working towards that goal, academia remains one of the last bastions of free speech. Even if he had meant what he had said, despite the countless articles demonstrating the contrary, it should not be held against him. This witch-hunt is no different to the silencing of Ward Churchill; in fact, it bares all the similarities of it. I support this gentleman all the way.

Given his age, previous reputation, contributions to medical science, previous ability to work well with people, the fact that he was joking.... And the fact that going back to, oh, little things like the USA Revolution, The Magna Carta, Imperial Rome, and the ancient Israelites (to name a few)... We have had in humanity, some traditions of giving people fair hearings and trials. So why do we accuse, try, condemn, sentence, and hang via social media? Give the man his day in court.

Even if the infamous quote had not been taken out of context, it would not be right to sack him over it. It was a harmless comment that bothered nobody but the perpetually bothered (who do not work with him anyway).
