This witch hunt was disgusting. Everyone that attacked Sir Hunt should not only be ashamed, THEY should suffer the consequences they demanded he endure. Such dishonest and shameful acts do more to harm the causes of diversity and fairness than any chauvinist could. My tolerance for such is rapidly diminishing, and that should be the same for everyone in a civil society.

People are entitled to have opinions which others dislike, and not to have every remark they make scrutiized by the media and twisted out of context to suit political objectives. It seems we are no longer a free society. Twitter mobs determine the content of what we are allowed to say.

I believe that ruining a (wo)man's career based upon a Twitter storm and without any sort of due process is not worthy of an institute such as UCL. This is increasingly true of a man who has had an eminent career as a physiologist, to the point of winning a Nobel for his work, and who by all accounts is a tireless promoter of science in the world. Please reconsider your decision to force his retirement.

Tim Hunt is a credit to the human race. we need more scientists like him that are working to better the world through science. the world doesn't need more embittered keyboard warrior feminists trying to ruin people's lives for perceived (read:imagined) slights.
