The hysteria of people who nit-pick, then attack other people, should NEVER be supported. We talk, we say things... It's okay!
As a woman myself, I am offended at the disrespect too many harpies show others.
There was nothing wrong with what he said.
He's a decent guy.
Those who can't take a joke, get over it.

“Now seriously, I’m impressed by the economic development of Korea. And women scientists played, without doubt an important role in it. Science needs women and you should do science despite all the obstacles, and despite monsters like me.”

For God Sake! this whole affair is just plain ridiculous. "Now seriously ..." reinstate him. If PC keeps going the way it is we will all be afraid to say anything whether joking or not.

To quote from the (movie of) The Name of the Rose, 'Laughter kills fear, and without fear there can be no faith because without fear of the Devil, there is no more need of God.' Today we create new faiths – and new heretics. So in defence of laughter…

For the attention of UCL and the ERC, I was shocked to read that Sir Tim Hunt was forced to resign over the most trivial of matters. Academics such as Tim are a rare commodity and should be revered for their academic brilliance rather then hounded out by agenda driven sensationalist journalists and media! As a former UCL graduate I am so disappointed that my University would fall so easily into this media trap!

I am a woman and think this entire situation was taken completely out of context to make Tim Hunt a villain. His statement was clearly a joke.

More to the point is that men feel the same when criticised but are not supposed to cry - they bottle it up and suffer as they don't have the emotional release. Tim even puts his light hearted remark in context by saying "Now seriously ..."
