Tim Hunt's speech and much of his career both validate him. He heeds to be reinstated.

This is a man of national value.

Please reinstate him. This is a media witch hunt without any basis

Sack Connie St Louis! Sack anyone who says something that might possibly offend someone else at some point in time.

We must not lose the contribution of this man to science and education because of some idiotic feminist witch hunt

Witch-hunt over a joke. It was a blatant overreaction by the misinformed internet mobs.

Unfortunately, (extreme) political correctness is now part of UK culture. Or could it be just a sensational journalism? “Sexist” humor is taboo, even self-deprecating. P.S.: I met my wife at work. And she did cry.

Sir Tim Hunt is a great scientist, and to treat such a man so unjustly is a sad shame. Please conduct a full and impartial review with a view to his reinstatement.

The current oh-so-PC drama involving a great scientist is simply a case of gut-churning envy. Its not "right on", "standing up for women colleagues" or any other oh-so heavily understanding catchphrases - its a case of good old-fashioned bigotry. And UCL, along with two harpies seem to have manipulated the facts to suit themselves and have been caught out. This whole idiotic situation should never have been allowed to escalate. Sir Tim deserves an immediate apology.

I do believe Tim Hunt's comments were inappropriate for the venue, but he didn't deserve to lose his position over them, at least not until all of the facts were known.

Bring back one of the best thinking minds to one of the best universities please.

I can say I am an individual who is extremely passionate about and has feverishly devoted my life to science. I am a female that is truly a seasoned and hard-working scientist and professor. The comment that Dr. Hunt made towards issues regarding the two sexes working together in the laboratory might have been a light-hearted joke. However I can say that it does bring to light most precipitously for me that sexism, and more generally stereotyping, in the scientific realm has definitely deleteriously affected and suffocated my career and life. I have seen it affect others also. I have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and love science so much and am so passionate about it you couldn't extract it out of me if you tried. If you met me you would say my tenacity, drive, and love for working in science is palpable. I have tried to be a very productive individual and contribute to the advancement of science despite stifling attitudes towards me because I own a uterus. I would have to say possibly Dr. Hunt did not show much professionalism and might be unevolved as a human being in that arena at worst. However, who am I to judge, since I could say I am unevolved relative to others in some facets of my life. However, there is definitely even now still discrimination towards women and in general in science. It is truly a huge shame because the only people it hurts are our posterity and the benefits they could have reaped from total focus on doing productive research instead of the human element. All I can say is that I hope humanity, if it doesn't destroy itself, finds a more individualistic approach to tapping into a human's talents, drives, and passions and honing them. I can personally say I have been written off, not taken seriously, and stifled in many areas because I am female. I feel my wings have been clipped; this should not happen to anyone for any reason. So yes, humans have two sexes because of sexual reproduction. Get over it. There is a time and place for that to

UCL and Tim Hunt were the victims of sensationalist journalism and a twitter mob. Don't let the STEM fields be tainted by reactionary politics which lack reason.

Tim Hunt's tongue in cheek comments entirely harmless. This so called journalist should have referred to the whole of his speech, she may then have understood the context better. This distinguished man has much to offer. Please reinstate him with immediate effect.

Sad to see this as a UCL alumnus. The resignation should not have been accepted without calm discussion.
