SAVE OUR WAC! I drove by @ 12:10 Friday July 17...only about 10 cars in the lot and I wondered what was going on! Now I know, so

We worked our butts off in the 80's to build a lasting Alano Club for members focused on recovery. Keep it simple - the Club was built to serve everyone... not just a few crafty loners. Keep the spirit of the Club first and foremost.

The recent actions by the Executive Director and Advisory Board of the WAC to change - without notice or input from members, or transparency - the name of the club, and its direction is against the principals, traditions and concepts of the program, as well as the guidelines put out by A.A. with relationship to any/all Alano Clubs.

What low down dirty move made this the Maple Rock happen?

I strongly believe that changing the name of the Alano Club was not done with "full disclosure" to the membership or consultation with the membership.

Notoriety threatens sobriety.Ours is a humble program of attraction. It is the very nature of our humility that attracts rather than repels frightened , addicted people to our club

I am deeply disturbed by the name maple rock which seems to hint at crack; while "club" is not ambiguous to anyone who has been in the community since its inception over 30 years ago!

I would love to have the name Wastenaw Alano Club and membership restored.
I among many are frustrated by these changes without any input into them

Changing the name of the Club makes no sense and would detract from its mission and usefulness.

The Washtenaw Alano Club helped save my life, and the building with another name could cause someone not to find recovery since Alano is synonymous throughout the world.

WAC was formed *by* the people and *for* the people ... the recovering members. It should remain that way going forward.

I first started coming to the WAC over 20 years ago. The lack of transparency in the recent board actions is very sneaky and undemocratic. A 45 + year old club highjacked.
