This whole situation is destroying the whole atmosphere of recovery at the CLUB. So many of us got sober at the club, found it to be our safe haven, and called it home. This is destroying all this for us. Bring the Club back!!

Bring back WAC! The WAC was about helping others recover from Alcoholism and where the members had voting rights and when it was a self supporting, non accepting of outside contributions. This is how AA successfully works now and since the beginning. Ron Pluckett is about lining his pockets. Greed is what took our country to our knees in 2008 and Ron's new model will only kill people instead of saving lives.

Removing the clubs operations from the hands of its members is not being a trusted servant. I question how the affiliation with Alano Clubs was established and then so blithely swept aside? And how can a board legally determine the by-laws are no longer in good standing and therefore discarded? And lastly. Why was it necessary to do this in secrecy? I think legal proceedings are in order - such as Stop and desist orders and so on.... meanwhile it's off to church basements for meetings and not supporting the changes 1 maybe even picketing is in order.

I was happy to see some of the upgrades and changes to the building, but am now very troubled by these recent events. We need to TAKE BACK the WAC!

Having been a member since the day we found the current bldg., I for one was happy that things seemed to be smoothing out at the club and no one was robbing the til for a change! Nice updates were happening, walls painted and ceiling fans added to name a couple. I had no idea that there was a hostile takeover plan in the works! Chet Bradley warned us way back in the beginning that the Club would always attract the power hungry who were looking for a place to RULE....he was so right...LET'S TAKE OUR CLUB BACK!

I was a member of the board in the early 1980's. Those board members along all the membership, worked our tails off to keep a club available to ALL its members. We were very transparent at that time. apparently this board lacks the one thing that has kept this club together, over the years. Honesty!

If revenue's were at an all time low through membership and rent from AA groups, how did all the debt get paid off in the last few years? This is information from maple rock website. Also I hear to be a board member you must be a large contributor? hmmm

I know since coming to the washtenaw alano club, no board of directors activity has ever been transparent to it's members. The maple rock website compares financials of 2010 to 2014, stating how membership revenue was insufficient. So what changed? let's see 2013 financials and where $$ came from?

Rebranding or changing the nature of the ALANO facility without the agreement of the club's members is totally unacceptable and inappropriate. To presume to dismiss or preempt the ALANO Club's original mission is gross overreach.

Mikhail's comments are right on. There is a place for the professionals but this is not the place. Peers sharing experience is a valuable commodity that cannot be simulated or replaced by programs or professionals.

I support the demands of this petition and the team led by Larry Sheldon formed to stop the illegal maple rock transformation of our Alano club.

I agree with Phil R. It is our own apathy to the club's daily management and Board affairs that provided opportunity to fill a vacuum with personal agendas. As a former Board member and Club secretary, I too am at fault. I appreciate the careful, thoughtful responses that the Monday meeting engendered and can only hope for more of the same. This does not, however, mean delay. We have no time for endless, clever debate. A couple of current Board members have a specific, carefully crafted agenda, while the remaining minions are simply loyal followers. On our part, I applaud any response that helps return our Club to it's original mission - a safe, hospitable haven for all drunks and drug addicts who want to get sober, stay sober and grow spiritually. We are not a clinical center, a substance abuse center or a government sponsored program. The animus of our Washtenaw Club derives from the precepts of AA and provides a simpler, truer response to the needs of our members. Our "treatment plan" is the shared experience of AA and not the professional interference of therapists, social workers, religious pundits and beauracrats. They have their rightful and correct roles and we have our club, so let's keep it. Misha

As one of the many past Presidents of the Board I know how important the members were during that time. They were the life blood of viability to all our efforts. I am with Jerry Hall when he said we worked our butts off. He was the Manager when I was the President. Keep it simple and growing from of place of safety for all who enter the doors seeking recovery. Give the club back to the members.

The W. A. C. was very instrumental in my recovery. Without the support of the membership, and the safety of the environment, that the club provided, I would not have 13 years of sobriety today. To remove an institution, that has worked for so many, is ludicrous.
