The council finally folded and the permit for the spinathon is ours so we are officially back on track to honor Noel. I am honestly still buzzing from the news and feeling a bit overwhelmed by how much support this got because it really felt like they were going to …

For the past 2 years Bodytech has hosted a 4 hour charity Spinathon in the square raising tens of thousands of pounds for Severn Hospice in memory of Noel Metcalfe (a local police officer and brother of Bodytech Director Pete).

For some reason the Shropshire Council has blocked the application for this years event, sighting noise complaints last year as the excuse. We believe this is ridiculous as our event was no louder than numerous other (more highbrow) events that happen in the town each year.

Please sign our petition to show your support for the Spinathon as the £1000s we raise make as massive difference to the hospice.

I really cannot wait to show these names to the council because the way this has taken off is just wild. It feels like everyone remembers that energy in the square and honestly it is about time they realized how much this matters for the hospice.

If you'd ever had a friend or relative who needed this facility, you wouldn't stop a fund raising venture, you'd be at the front of the queue support it. Shame on whoever made this lamentable decision, do us all a favour and approve it

An event like this shows Shrewsbury at its best! Selfless people training hard for months to spend a few hours raising money for a fantastic cause...to not allow this is selfish and an outrage!! Surely noise that generates awareness of this very worthy charity event is only a good thing!!

my mum has the best send off at the Severn hospice... This is shameful. A heathy sporting fundraiser for a very worth while cause. I wonder how many of the people who complained actually has had a relative or friend spend their last days at the hospice.

I think this is awful! There regularly are bands and other acts that make far more noise that are not for an amazing charity! What an absolute shame! I participated in the last one, it was a gruelling 4 hours that we all did selflessly to raise money!

What a disgrace. This town should support all charity events regardless of noise. Do people complain when Xmas lights get turned on by some z list celeb shouting down a mic, no. Shropshire council get a bloody grip.

You want to build a caravan site on a beautiful nature plot to bring people into Ellesmere yet you won't allow a spinathon which will also bring people in, help build a sense of community whilst raising money for a well worthy cause! I really don't understand the thinking behind these decisions!!

Come on Shropshire council, don't be plonkers, and remember you can always be voted out.
