This so called new system is not working all. Bring back the school buses fir tge safety of our children ad sanity of patents trying to ensure their children are at school on tone and hone at a decent hour in the afternoon. Its ridiculous to take away the school buses and expect public buses to come at peak times

Our family lives in Ohauiti (on a regular time) when we travel to and from St Mary's School it takes us 10 minutes. On the old bus route it took 20 minutes it was a fun and easy way to travel. The new bus route takes 1 hour and 15 minutes! I cannot understand why the bus needs to crisscross through the busy intersection several times to save money. Surely the cost of sitting in standstill traffic and desperate parents eventually taking their bored or stressed primary school children to school themselves would be a greater cost. I really feel that the organisers of this route are out of touch.

First week of school buses has been an absolute disaster. From a bus stop half a block away last year to NO BUS STOPS at all between Girven Road and Sandhurst. What were they thinking??? Also heavily overcrowded buses morning and afternoon. Sort it out guys. This is not safe or reasonable at all !!!

My 11 year old has just started taking school bus no 1 this term. He is constantly left waiting for 40-60mins each morning for the bus when I go to work. A tragedy is going to happen before you decide to make the change.

My son got home from school at 5 tonight. All buses too full which wouldn't let him and his friends on and no school bus to where we live so he has to take a regular bus. Kids in Ohauiti who attend Greenpark are ALL driven to school by car because there is no school bus to Greenpark! Three kids using a bus twice a day- I need a second job!!!!

Can I just say that I’ve lived in Welcome Bay for 3 years!!! And in that 3 years I was part of the petition to help free busses for Welcome Bay as I had 4 kids in high school I had to pay for which was $80 a week!!!! On top of that school expenses, etc. so I’m am absolutely relieved that we petitioned for the last 3 years and it’s finally happened!!! However I only have 1 daughter left in high school but so glad it finally happened as my other 3 graduated over the years !! The new school bus system works fine for my girls now and absolutely loving it. Good luck for this Petition guys as it will be granted in the next 3 years like how our one was. Welcome Bay yes man yes.

Bring back the old school bus system! Ohauiti parents are getting rather frustrated to say the least with the public buses not showing up or if they do being late and packed!

The new system sees my 6 year old spend over an hour a trip on a big bay hopper bus full of college kids...the old system was a smaller bus that was friendlier and it was a small group of children who knew each other and a regular bus driver who had the children's wellbeing at heart.

Truancy rates have risen due to free school buses being removed. One extra long-term truant means a child out of education. This will a have LONG reaching impact on our communities. The sooner we return to the old system the more hope there is of re-engaging with these children. And that's before we look at traffic on the roads and child health and safety. This began with the short-sighted National government. Come one Labour!
