Where is the sense in removing the illustrator's name from the medal set up in her honour? And, this is an own-goal in my eyes, as the Kate Greenaway Medal has far more significance and indeed gravitas than the newly named Yoto Carnegie Medal - it isn't obvious that this is for illustration. Bring it back please.

I don’t understand why her name was dropped in the first place. Does she not deserve to be remembered?

Please keep the original name instead of that of a corporate sponsor.

Why would you change the name of this award from a British woman who was successful and highly thought of and has her work in national galleries to an American (Scottish) steel industrialist who may have been philanthropic and funded many libraries (methinks sponsorship/money may be the reason). I’m so disappointed in CILIP

I loved her illustrations as a child and still now, as an adult. Her name on the GREENAWAY Medal means something to readers! Bring it back!!

I'm really shocked that CILIP should have taken the decision to change the name of this prestigious award which has been identified with honouring so many wonderful illustrators over the years.

The Greenaway name is a deep-rooted connection to a fine illustrator.
The roots have been pulled up.

This is an outrageous decision which seems to indicate that CILIP seems to favour Andrew Carnegie, a man not without his share of controversy, over a brilliant and talented female illustrator. If CILIP no longer wish to honour Kate Greenaway (or the work of contemporary illustrators) perhaps they should relinquish it to another body who will do so.

As a librarian, I feel that the original reason for naming this award still stands today. Sponsoring should not be a reason to change it.

So few book illustrators are known by a wider public, this is an important recognition of a great illustrator.
