As well as the move being regressive and sexist - why on earth change the name when it's so well established and everyone knows what it is? It isn't going to work for Elon Musk and it won't work for you. Change the name back!

"Branding", good lord - what could be better branding than the name of a shy, working-class woman who through her own determination and talent became a successful illustrator? Please overturn this wrong-headed decision.

Why consign the name to history for the sake of expediency.

I do not understand why anyone would think this disrespectful action was remotely reasonable. It should be reversed.

The importance of the medal is diminished if you remove the person who represents why it’s being awarded. No one should have the authority to remove this women from history.

tHIS IS AN ILL-CONCEIVED DECISION AND WILL RENDER THE AWARD INVISIBLE AND POTENTIALLY MEANINGLESS TO MANY WHO IMMEDIATELY RECOGNISE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE gREENAWAY.

It is so important for illustrators to be recognised. Reading to children includes engaging with the pictures as well as the words.

Please let’s not forget this historic association. It means so much to children’s book professionals and is an important part of our heritage.

There should be more awards named after women and illustrators, not fewer. This is a backward step, which makes the librarians of the 1950s, who set up the Kate Greenaway award, look more progressive than today's. Sponsors come and go over the decades, the award should continue unchanged, as in sport.

Please reinstate Kate Greenaway's name on the award for illustration in books. It's important that brilliant women are seen by girls in particular. And I am a man who was a teacher. Girls need to 'see' women excelling so that they can believe in their own potential. Chris Jupp (Mr)

I have had a professional and personal interest in children's literature for many years. The Kate Greenaway medal, established almost 70 years ago, is known internationally as a prestigious award. I am very unhappy about the change of name and urge CILIP to reconsider.
