This marketing decision is an insult to our illustration heritage and further confirmation of the devaluing of the illustrator's contribution. Was there a consultation? Please rethink.

It is disrespectful to replace a distinguished female illustrator's name with the name of a male industrialist.

As a member of CILIP I am appalled at this erasure of the name of an accomplished female illustrator from an award that has a long history and is well known and recognised in the Library and Publishing industries.

Where libraries are campaigning to get representation in high places it seems to go against the flow to remove Kate Greenaway's name from the illustrators medal and give to an industrialist who was not an illustrator.

Shocked to read about this. We need more awards named after women, whose contributions to society are so often unrecognised, not less. Hoping this terrible decision is reversed.

This is the latest in a distressing pattern of changes made by CILIP with little to no consultation with its membership.

Bad decision, what a travesty to change this name, please do not do so.

This is an egregious decision to replace a major historic illustrator , a woman , with a man . The struggle to ensure recognition of creative women remains ongoing and requires all our commitments. I oppose this rebranding and effacing of an important name in the history of illustration and book art

I support this campaign. If an umbrella term was needed for the two awards, surely that would be CILIP. What if the sponsor changes in future - all that history associated with the name is lost, and that seems a big loss.

It's not because she's old fashioned, Andrew Carnegie was her contemporary. It really is because CILIP has been advised that her name isn't as marketable as 'Carnegie'

It’s outrageous that Kate Greenaway, a wonderful illustrator , should be pushed aside as “ old fashioned.” Are all such historical figures to be treated as such?

Please keep Kate Greenaway’s name on the award! Her illustrations brightened my childhood. Now is not the time to push women of accomplishment into the background!

Although I appreciate that estblished actions must be re-assessed occasionally, I do believe that in the present instance CILIP has made the wrong decision to wipe Kate Greenway's name from this award. I do not believe that CILIP's action is sexist per se, just incedibly the wrong one! Edward.

She is so important as an illustrator and deserves to be the name on this award.
