Last year it was Yoto Kate Greenaway. Don't know why it had to be different this year.

It is hugely insensitive to rename an award, named after a woman who fought to be recognized for her artwork in a male dominated society, after a male and sponsoring corporation. As an illustrator, I would never allow my publisher to submit my books for such an insultingly renamed award. As a woman who also had a long struggle to have my illustrative work recognized, to me it simply must be named after Kate Greenaway, someone whom I greatly admire. Otherwise the award will have no meaning to the people receiving it.

This makes no sense at all! The award is for illustrators, and Kate Greenaway is one of the first in Britain recognized as such. Is there no way to include the sponsor and the name of an important illustrator, maybe the Yoto Greenaway Carnegie Medal for Illustration at least?

Andrew Carnegie's connection to libraries is in no danger of being forgotten.

Another stupid renaming for no good reason. Please have the good sense to keep the high standard that Kate Greenway set and that her name represents .

Re-naming a well-known award in a re-branding exercise is the wrong decision.

Keep it Kate! I always looked out for the gold medal logo on books when I was a child, illustration can make a book so much more special.

The Greenaway Medal has for so long been synonymous with wonderful illustration - her name should not be lost

Illustrators are still struggling to be credited. Kate Greenaway’s name should never have been removed in the first place.

Stop replacing women with men, there’s been centuries of male dominance.

Illustrations are so important in Children's books. They bring the characters to life. Why would you remove a medel? I have a Kate Greenaway book. The illustrations are superb

More information on the 'branding expediency' that caused the name to change from Kate Greenaway to Yoto Carnegie is desirable.

Kate Greenaway’s beautiful illustrations provided wonderful focus, inspiration for artwork and talking points for children in our school library. Please don’t don’t hide her name away from this award.
