'Branding efficiency' is a cruel and callous reason to remove her name.

Disgraceful to take the name of Kate Greenaway from this award. That's the first step to silencing, forgetting, an important woman. It must be reversed.

I wholeheartedly support this petition and regret that CILIP did not consult more widely before making such a huge change.

The Kate Greenaway medal is a prestigious and well-recognised award, named after a female artist. The existing name should be retained, rather than replace with that of a male sponsor. Female artists are under-represented, and there is no need to change the name of the award.

We must keep the name of the gifted illustrator as part of the award please.

This is a shocking and regressive action. If the marketeers and sponsors are so keen, why do they not establish a new award?

It is really important to keep Kate Greenaways name on this medel, since it was designed to encourage women in this area and it commemorates an etxtraordinary woman.

Kate Greenaway is a hugely important woman in history. It was a point of pride that she was recognised with the medal.

We should celebrate Kate Greenaway as a working class female artist. A fantastic Londoner!

Everyone in children's lit reveres the name of Kate Greenaway. She's one of our "local authors" here in Notts due to her childhood connections with the village of Rolleston - w think she's great - Kate Must Be Kept!
