As xx a lapsed Librarian who originally went to art school and ad a woman this decision is appalling.
At a time when illustrators are increasingly undermined by commercial interests using AI and when our society still fails to recognise the contribution of women how dare you erase another women from visibility.
Appalling decision.

Renaming this award takes away from women every where. You should be ashamed.

This renaming is a shameful act if toadying and total counter to the aims of the award. If he wants recognition add his name to a new award. Maybe a medal for self published authors and illustrators.

In an era when corporate stifling of creativity is becoming ever more aggressive, the eradication of Greenaway's name from the award that was set up to honour her achievements and contribution to the world of art and literature seems particularly crass and ill-timed. And an insult to her memory and to every other artist.

It is vitally important to recognise those who came before, not current sponsors.

Keeping a prestigious award named after a talented and accomplished female is important. This change is ridiculous.
Keep the name on the award, she earned it.
