I completely understand the need for sponsors but to remove the name of an illustrious illustrator for a medal which promotes illustration and replace it with Andrew Carnegie’s name is madness. He already has the Carnegie Medal named after him. Don’t see the logic, (speaking as a past Chair of YLG)

This is an affront to female creators. Bad enough that Kate Greenaway lived in a time when women were rarely able to have their literary voices heard, now she's being silenced and erased in a time when women's voices can (usually) be heard and heeded.

A ludicrous slight to Greenaway.

Awards should not be stadiums rebranded after their current owner, but after someone who represents an outstanding contribution to the field being honored.

As an author and illustrator, I feel that the great tradition in the UK of which Greenaway was a very distinguished exemplar deserves to be property and suitably celebrated

If corporations want to give out awards, let them invent their own awards.

As usual, money talks. There are plenty of ways to link branding to something without renaming it. What happens when their money is pulled out? Rename it again? Please keep the original reference to the person whose fantastic contribution to the British book industry still today has an influence on those who work within it.

Disgraceful! The Kate Greenaway medal should be treated as branding. If sponsors have to be mentioned why not call it The Kate Greenaway Medal sponsored by...that's what other organisations do.

Please reinstate Kate Greenaway's name to this award. This should not be treated as a branding opportunity for corporations or magnates. Women have too few statues, too few dedicated awards. Illustrators remain frequently unknown and underpaid. This renaming poorly thought out and the original title should be restored.
