Kate Greenaway's beautiful illustrations opened my imagination as a child in a literary sense but also triggered a lifelong interest in historical clothing design. A friend became a successful illustrator of children's books because she was so inspired by Greenaway's work.
Please don't change the name of the award. Kate Greenaway means so much to so many people. You would be doing Kate and those who love her an enormous disservice, not to mention disrespecting her memory.
Thank you.

This is how women get erased from history. Stop the bs and keep our names in public where they deserve to be . Appalling.

CILIP should be ashamed for prioritising expediency over what librarians and the reading public want.

The systematic stripping away of our heritage is disgusting. The people responsible for such actions are a disgrace and have no business being custodians of cultural assets. They must be instantly dismissed and replaced by people who care about the preservation of our history, culture and heritage.

Daft decision. If it's sponsored by a big firm, add 'Sponsored by....' after the main title.

We are long past the time when Bud Westmore could take credit for Millicent Patrick's creation and no one cared. Greenaway deserves her fame, and that comes by the name of the award.

Changing the name without consultation and due to branding expediency is utterly ridiculous and unacceptable.

Absolutely no need to change the historical naming of this special award

Thanks for your support. CILIP clearly didn't contact all the YLG former chairs as they claimed.

This is outrageous. It denies the heritage and history of a great tradition of childrens book illustration

As a published author and a published artist (with 9 current published interior illustrations) I wholeheartedly agree with this petition
