Bring back the Google Music "5-Star" rating system

Really terrible decision. I don't understand why they did that.

★ - Terrible Song, why do I even have this? Must be a compilation or something. ★★ - Meh, definitely not my favorite but I can survive hearing it. ★★★ - Decent song. Sync this to my phone to hear this while on the go. ★★★★ - Great song - almost know it by heart. Enjoy to hear it often. ★★★★★ - The Crème de la Crème. Love this song, could hear it on repeat for hours.

i tried to convince the google music team not only to make rating a standard, i wanted to have automatic playlists based on ratings and the possibility to administrate your music from mobile devices. i did not succeed.......

I used the 5-star rating system all the time, to sort my music, to find songs I liked, and as a general ranking system. It was an optional feature before, so why not keep it optional (and disabled by default)? Please bring have the stars, Google.

Hope to see more signatures - and that a mutually beneficial solution (like an optional add-on of some sort) can be reached so Google still gets its data and we can more accurately rate our music libraries. Like many of you, the 1-5 star ratings let me decide which songs made it into which rotations. 1-2 stars wasn't a 'hate it,' for me.

The 5-star rating system is very useful, especially for users who like to make lists. There is a difference between "Like", "Like a lot" and "Favorite songs". I think both options could actually work together: Once a song has been quickly reviewed with a "thumbs up" or a "thumbs down", a second row of 5 stars (or even 5 thumbs) would appear underneath, allowing for a more precise rating.

This is odd that Google wants to know less about my preferences than they could.

I'm furious about this. I had migrated my large music collection to Google Play Music and invested well over a hundred hours in doing song ratings. This is information I find essential and will certainly stop subscribing to the service if the feature is not restored. But beyond this- how can Google- a company whose raison d'etre is information retrieval be so cavalier about people's personal stored information and just trash it without at very least giving them an opportunity to offload it?

Having a scaled system is more intuitive and useful than a simple "like/dislike". So if it's ok and not something you'd change the channel for or skip all the time you just don't rate it?

I completely agree, reverting back to a black and white rating system is barbaric. Even if the Thumbs Up/Down ratings are "a central design point for our future releases.", there is no reason the Google Music team cannot write additional code to handle the 5-Star option for those who have more depth to their music tastes..

Though there are some things in this world that you can easily like or dislike, music has too many things going on with it. We need the 5 star rating system back. That was one of the best features of Google Music.

It's absolutely outrageous this is considered a 'feature' let alone an 'experimental' one that they can just remove at a whim. Bring it back!
