Bring back the BEST!

Me.Girffith is a caring, kind and dedicated teacher. He teaches us how become an amazing musicians and keeps kids excited and happy to be in orchestra. Now I know that I am currently and eighth grader and will be at the high school next year but I want my little sister in sixth grade to have the same wonderful experience in orchestra that I had. Without Mr. Grifffith the orchestra program will suffer.

As a former music teacher in the district, I find this appalling and an example of moving chess pieces around the teaching board. Just as I would never be qualified to teach advanced math at BHS, how is a band instructor going to teach orchestra? If this is about having 3 band directors at RMS when you only need 2, then it is a band problem. The entire MS orchestra should not have to suffer. This district has a multi-award winning music program. Why? Because of teachers like Chris and Kate and Mary and Walt and Peter and Jamie and Laura and Rachel and Lisa and ALL that came before them ..... these dedicated professionals are people that work overtime all the time FOR THE KIDS of Batavia! This isn’t about anything that Chris has done wrong. This is about the almighty dollar. If Batavia can afford to take care of its athletes, it can take care of its award winning musicians.

While a band teacher could physically conduct an orchestra- there is absolutely no substitute for an actual orchestra director who specializes in string instruments. Come on Batavia, you’re better than this.

My daughter who is in fifth grade was looking forward to having Mr. Griffith after seeing him work with the students at a concert. I am sure that one of the largest Middle Schools in the state can find the means to have a orchestra teacher. Please do the right thing.

Mr. Griffith is one of my favorite teachers ever! So many students love him. He’s always there for us (students). It made me want to cry when I saw that he was being “let go.” He is an amazing teacher with so much wisdom and knowledge to share! His music instruction is fantastic and he is always thinking of a new way to keep us engaged and keep us learning! He is the best man for the job!

Hey. I know I'm in band, but this seriously will hurt our music program as a whole. I've had a great time with music, and the teachers who are passionate about teaching music inspired me to go on and continue. Why would you want to deprive our fellow music students of well educated teachers who also have a passion for orchestra? Give them a chance to be inspired.

Keep the band teacher. The children need him.

he has helped me through the loss of my dad and came to his wake and has beet her for me through all my anxiety! best teacher ever! he treats his students as if they were his own and he lies what he does and at the end of the day he just wants what’s best for us!

I cannot understand where on Earth the school got the idea to have a band teacher over an entire orchestra program. Not only that, but Mr Griffith is one of the best things to happen to that orchestra program in YEARS! His enthusiasm and love for teaching and all things orchestra is apparent to every single person who crosses his path. He's a wonderful ball of energy and gives the kids what they need to be excited about strings. I'm speechless about this decision, completely disappointed, and heartbroken that a teacher is wonderful as Mr Griffith is being let go.

This is a terrible idea. Mr Griffith has been a fantastic addition to our music program.

I am a seventh grade orchestra student and Mr. Griffith is one of my all time favorite teachers. He makes orchestra incredibly fun, his talent is amazing, he Is an amazing person and he truly cares about his students, he is proud of us, he makes me look forward to coming to orchestra every day, he encourages us to our future, and his sense of humor is awesome! Replacing Mr. Griffith is truly a huge mistake. Here’s why: 1. Mr Griffith is specifically educated in strings, and band teachers are specifically educated in band. 2. Not only is he an orchestra teacher, but he is a fun, incredible person. Mr. Griffith makes everything fun, he encourages us all the time, and he is proud of us. 3. Mr. Griffith just CAN’T be replaced. No one can ever replace him. This job is PERFECT for him.

Chris is a wonderful caring teacher and my nephews favorite!!! Please reinstate him!

Electives are as equally important as core classes. Some students excel in math, some in the arts, neither is more important than the other and our curriculum requirements and values need to begin reflecting this in order to raise better, more qualified, more diverse, & more well rounded adults.

My little sister had him for orchestra and she would constantly talk about how he was an amazing teacher and how loved he was by his students

I have 3 grandchildren in this district. The 2 oldest currently take private violin & viola lessons, and the oldest will be in orchestra at Rotolo next year. This is a disgrace! Surely the district can come up with a better solution to save money.

Mr .Griffith was our daughters orchestra teacher in Yorkville, and He was the best. His teaching and dedication is what kept her involved.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Chris Griffith. Both of my eldest children were lucky enough to be taught by Chris, and I can say without a doubt that he has been one of the most influential educators they’ve had throughout their education. This would be a true loss for Batavia schools.

I believe strongly that Mr. Griffith should continue to be the orchestra teacher.
