He is an amaazing that cares about the kids and the music. He makes it fun for the kids. He understand what the batavia music program means to the district. It would be a huge loss

My seventh grader came home in tears today when she found out about Mr. Griffith being let go for next year . He is an absolute asset to RMS and to our entire music community. We cannot let him go. Not only is he an incredible orchestra teacher but he truly cares about each and every single one of his students. His passion for the music and instilling the love of strings in our students is priceless. He is irreplaceable.

Rotolo has half the school in the music program and BHS has double the national average. Many studies have proven the benefit of music to academics. Music is not the program to downgrade. Find a way to retain a talented teacher.

Go make cuts elsewhere! Our band teachers don’t have time to start taking on orchestra too! Our music program takes on over 50% of Rotolo’s students. Between band/chorus and orchestra! They each deserve their own teachers. And our band teachers not only have their classes and run their own ensembles, when not in classes do private’s and pull outs of the other grades. So please tell me with what time they have to now take on 3 grade levels of orchestra and still give the same to band?!

His position is key to the strength and the longevity of the Entire Orchestra program. I have seen first hand the amazing changes he has made in the short time being within the Batavia program. If the school system doesn’t bring him back they are doing a disservice not only to all the current and future orchestra students but to the ENTIRE Batavia music program.

I recently learned that the amazing orchestra teacher, Mr Griffith, has been laid off due to budget cuts. To whom it may concern, I will let you know that I am a band kid. I am not even involved in orchestra, yet I still feel extremely passionately about this. Music changes lives. You are now replacing a experienced orchestra teacher with a BAND teacher that has minimal Orchestra experience? Do you realize how utterly Ridiculous this is? How are we supposed to raise musicians of the future if they are being instructed by someone who is not even trained in the music field they are studying?
Ill look at it from the school's perspective. Okay sure, Rotolo has a bunch of music teachers, why not let one go? Griffith is newer, so he is first? Alright then. Well BHS and Rotolo combined have around 15-20 football coaches. Why not let one of them go? I'm sure a science teacher could fill in for the math class or English class that they teach. It shouldn't be that hard could it?
THE PRIORITIZES OF THIS TOWN ARE SERIOUSLY TWISTED. Our town can go ahead and keep paying for the maintenance of our football turf while our musicians get neglected, only if they want the true geniuses and revolutionaries to be left in the dust. Now obviously I am not fully educated on this matter and I do not know the intentions of the money that will be gained with getting rid of Mr. Griffith. HOWEVER, so many middle schools across the nation are able to maintain a healthy orchestra program and the fact that Batavia cannot do this is downright disgraceful. We can bring a football team to state, we have athletes going to national competitions, yet we do not have a middle school orchestra teacher. I sincerely hope our district reflects on their priorities and begins to value every activity of all kids lives as equal. Orchestra is extremely important to so many kids. This is the first time I have ever felt ashamed to say I am from Batavia.

Even I (a band kid) agree with all of this! He was a very talented, kind, and exceptional instructor, let alone a huge part of Batavia's music department.

He was one of my favorite and best teacher I've ever had. He has more passion for orchestra and teaching than I can even put into words. He pushed and helped me to be the player I am today

Its outrageous that they are willing to destroy the music department at RMS but keep all sports to tip top shape.
